Good Practice Knowledge Base
Possibly the least likely type of store to work on-line, Elizabeth Botham
markets itself as a traditional English family bakery in the UK and abroad.
It bakes 400 products and sells branded goods through wholesalers to delicatessens
and grocers. The Web site has opened up a new dimension for promoting
and selling their bakery products.
The pages include photographs of products, staff at work in the bakery,
a children's corner with games and recipes and details on how to order
both from within the UK and from abroad.
For a minimal outlay the 14 pages on the Internet puts the company in
front of many more people than it would have otherwise and more than 11,000
people in countries including Brazil, Hong Kong, Sweden, China and the
US have visited the site. The site wins the business, on average, six
extra orders a week as a result of the Internet.
